Carrom Boards

A carrom board is a square or rectangular board game that is popular in many countries.  The game involves using small, circular discs (known as carrom men) and a striker to score points by potting the carrom men into corner pockets.

Carrom is typically played by two or four players.

Here are the main components of a carrom board and the basic rules of the game:

  • Carrom Board: The board is usually made of plywood or another smooth surface and has a rectangular shape. It is divided into a grid of squares, and there are four pockets (one in each corner).
  • Carrom Men: These are small, flat, and round playing pieces, typically made of wood. Each player has a set of carrom men of a distinct color (usually white and black) and a special striker, which is a larger disc used to propel the carrom men.
  • Striker: The striker is a larger disc with a smooth surface. Players use it to strike the carrom men and set them in motion.
  • Queen: In some variations of the game, there is a special carrom man known as the "queen." Potting the queen and covering it with one of the player's carrom men results in extra points.
  • Gameplay: The game is played by flicking the striker with a finger to hit the carrom men and propel them into the pockets. The objective is to pot all of one's carrom men before the opponent does. Players take turns, and the game continues until a predetermined number of points or rounds is reached.

Carrom requires a combination of skill, precision, and strategy, as players aim to pocket their carrom men while avoiding the opponent's pieces.  It is a popular game for both casual and competitive play and is played in homes, clubs, and tournaments.
