Body-Powered Wheelchairs

A manual body-powered wheelchair is a type of wheelchair that is propelled by the user's own physical efforts rather than by an electric motor.  These wheelchairs typically have a lightweight frame and are designed to be pushed or propelled by the user's hands and arms.

The user sits in a seat that is attached to the frame of the wheelchair and uses their hands to grip and push the wheels on either side of the chair.  The wheels are typically larger than those on a standard chair, making it easier to maneuver over uneven terrain.

Some manual body-powered wheelchairs may also have additional features such as adjustable seat height, folding frames for easy transport, and other customizable options to meet the specific needs of the user.

Overall, manual wheelchairs can provide greater independence and mobility for individuals with physical disabilities who may not have access to or prefer not to use an electric powered wheelchair.
